The Melbourne Osaka Cup Double Handed Yacht Race is a 5,500 nautical miles epic journey that runs every four years, pitting man and boat against the power of the ocean.

Austeknis, the Australian distributor for Pentax Thermal Printing solutions, has sponsored two yachts competing in the Melbourne to Osaka two handed Yacht Race. As an South Australian Company we chose to sponsor our Local entry "Southern Light" skippered by Tom Crabbe with Crew Member Trent Justice and also Victorian entry "Dekadence" skippered by Phil Coombs and Crew Member Peter Walsh.

The yachts are fitted with the latest offering from Pentax which is the 12VDC Pentax PocketJet 3plus Printer with Bluetooth, together with the in-Vehicle Carrier which is mounted to the bulk head.

  

The Advantage of the Pentax printer is it is a Thermal unit and does not need any awkward consumables such as ink. The unit is fed by the same thermal paper as used in the yacht's weather fax machine; the printer is quick, small and will give the users hard copy of weather maps, updates and strategic competitor position information.
